Updated: Aug 15, 2020

The Database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) is an administrative tool whose structure is JAVA code. The DBCA allows the user to modify a database configuration, delete database managing model and can also be used to manage the PDBs.

In this guided study we are going to install the Database Software together with the database creation using the DBCA.

  • You already have the installation of Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL 7) in VirtualBox (Learn more).

  • Made the settings Grid Infrastructure 19c ASM Installation (Learn more).

Download software Oracle Database 19c for Linux x86-64:

Using the Assistant (DBCA) for Database Oracle 19c

Now we are going to use DBCA to create the Multitenant Database with Pluggable Database (PDB).

Use the DBCA command:

Step 1:

We started with operations with DBCA, selecting the option "Create a database". "Next" button.

Step 2:

Let's go to each item as follows:

1) Leave the Typical Configuration checked;

3) Select the Storage Type ("Automatic Storage Management ASM). ASM will bring up File Location: automatically;

4) Keep the Character Set:

5) Enter the Password;

Attention this step to Create a Multitenant Database:

1) Check Create As Container Database

Step 3:

A summary of the configurations that will be performed by DBCA will be shown.

"Finish" button.

Step 4:

Wait to finish it may happen that progress will take a while.

Step 5:

Your Pluggable Database (PDB) in a Multitenant Environment has already been successfully created. "Close" button.

Access sqlplus to check if your database is Startup with the commands:
